March and all of its Madness

How was last month?

I can tell you right now that food—more specifically eating out—is one of my biggest financial obstacles. My goal for last month was to prep all of my meals except for special occasions. Anddd…I didn’t make it, ya’ll.

I’m not a fan of cooking most of the time. It takes too much of my time, and I have to be in the mood. This is why when I do cook, I will meal prep or make big batches so that the food will last me several days. The convenience of eating out is so tempting. It’s fast, doesn’t require cleanup, and serves as a reason to get out of the house these days. When I do eat out, I try to eat healthy—which can be more expensive than eating Chick-fil-A.

This is a prime example of, “If you have the money and don’t feel like doing it, pay someone.” So, maybe what I need to do is pay for meal prep services. Lol. This will most likely be cheaper in the long run. I’m already spending more money on individual meals than I would be if I were to pay for prepped meals in bulk (probably cheaper individually).

Personal finance is different for everyone. Your situation will be different from the next person’s. My weakness will probably be different than yours. We’ll be strong in different areas. Even with that said, however, there is one principle that will remain the same. If you want more money, you’re going to have to decrease your expenses and/or increase your income.

What’s up with April?

April is looking good! My next goal is to review my financial plan to reflect where my life is going. It’s great to have a written plan because it forces you to look ahead. We can’t determine the future, but if there are certain goals we want to accomplish, we need to prepare for the things that have a high probability of occurring. Plans can always be adjusted!
