My Debt-Free Journey Part 3
And just like that, August 2020 is a memory. :)
My goal for last month was to save $500. Though it was kind of tight, I was still able to make this happen while paying toward my debt. Consistently contributing a small amount to my savings is something that I’ve kept up during this time as well. It’s nowhere near as aggressive as my focus on debt right now, but that’s ok because I’m choosing to put my main focus in a certain area of my finances right now.
I can’t believe I’m this close to the finish line. I only have around $6,450 left to pay on this private loan. Looking back, I really wish I would’ve paid this off earlier, but we live and learn. What matters now is that I’m doing it. It’s about taking responsibility for the choices that I made years ago, so I can be free.
Fighting through a challenge builds confidence. It lets you know that you can survive tough times. It lets others know that they can get through difficulties because they see you were able to get through them. When you make up in your mind that you’re going to do something come hell or high water, things start happening that help you accomplish what you’ve set out to do. Help, support, encouragement come from all directions. It’s like you can hear a crowd behind you cheering you on, and it helps to push you forward.
The mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual obstacles can be a lot. They always seem to be there. You’re dealing with a battle mentally, but you know you gotta keep going. You’re struggling emotionally, but you made a promise to yourself. It has to get done because the reward on the other side is greater.
So, I’m continuing the grind. For the freedom. For the options. For the “just to see if I can do it” challenge. For the Black community. For the now. For the future. The vision of building generational wealth is unfolding. I’m laying a foundation so that others who come after me will already have the cheat codes. They will benefit because of what I’m creating now.
