2021: Ready, Set, Goals!
2021 Happenings…
January was BUSY!
I kicked off the month by promoting and selling The Goal Box! I decided to package part of the visual system that I used for my 2020 debt-free journey (If you follow me on Instagram, you’ve seen it!). It was a hit! I’m looking forward to hearing about how it’s helped all of those who have purchased one to accomplish their goal(s) this year. If you’re interested in more information or purchasing a box, feel free to email me here on my website or DM me via Instagram.
This year’s overall goal is to increase my emergency fund by $15,000. I will admit that paying down my debt was more exhilarating than saving. Maybe because the saving part is so open-ended. I can determine the number; it can be whatever. Debt is more definite. You know the number you have to pay back. Anyways, I’m going to get it done! LOL. The challenge here will be not touching it unless it’s for a true emergency (medical, job loss, stuff like that). I have a couple of things that are slowing this goal down for now, but I’ll share those soon!
Last Month…
My goal for the month was to read one personal finance book (and, yes, I still ran 100 miles in January like I do every year). The book of choice was Joy of Financial Planning by Jason J. Howell, CFP. I’d say that it was pretty informational, and it gave some general history of the insurance industry, estate planning, as well as other financial topics. Additionally, there were some practical actions at the end of each chapter that the reader could apply to their life. The most memorable part of the book was the section on family governance. A lot of us are getting serious about financial planning because we’re thinking about family, dreams, and lifestyle, so it was cool to see this as a major part of the book.
This Month…
What’s this month’s goal? Fifteen no spend days! That’s right. I’m not spending any money for at least 15 days in February unless it is for bills, savings, or emergencies. The days don’t have to be consecutive, so that’s a plus! This will definitely help me save money and determine when I spend it during this time.
I’m looking forward to the lessons I’ll learn over the next few weeks. Let’s get it done!
